  • vnStat

Bandwidth monitor for Linux. A 2.2.x+ kernel is required.

    Download

    The main site is http://humdi.net

After you install the script, go to the vnstat directory you just unpacked and then to examples/init.d/yourOS and copy the vnstat startup script to your respective /etc/init.d directory. Then also copy the vnstat.conf file to /etc/vnstat.conf. When you change the vnstat.conf file, remember to reload the vnstat daemon like so: /etc/init.d/vnstat reload.

To view the traffic in real time, use the following command after the above steps are taken care of:

    vnstat -l

All of the above steps are done as root, so if you need to use sudo.
